Abstract: Carbon nanotubes
and graphene materials become very famous recently due
to their potential applications in many fields. Those
materials can be grown on the metal surfaces using
chemical vapor deposition technique. In the carbon
nanotube and graphene growth via chemical vapor
deposition technique, the hydrogen atoms are dissociated
from hydrocarbon molecules on the hot metal surface. The
remaining carbon atoms deposited on the surface form a
graphene layer. There are many experimental and
theoretical studies to reveal the mechanism of
hydrocarbon dissociation reported in the scientific
journals. In this proceeding, we explain the recent
research works on molecular dynamics simulation for
hydrocarbon reaction on metal surfaces based on our
experiences.
