Abstract:      Composite materials are increasingly used in various fields of science and technology because of their unique properties. As a result of these properties and potential applications, there is a strong need to understand better the issue associated with the fabricating and machining of composite materials. In the machining of GFRP, the surface conditions after cutting, as well as the surface quality, are important. Purpose of this paper is to investigate the influence of cutting conditions during the drilling operations on the surface roughness of the drilled hole as it contributes to the improved surface quality with better machinability in drilling. The holes are drilled under drilling conditions of spindle speeds of 90-445 rpm and feed rate at 0.5 mm/rev. The investigation is carried out from the view of the internal surface quality of drilled hole. This investigation reveals the surface quality generated, within the confines of the levels of the independent variables, speed, feed, diameter, and thickness of plate. A series of experiments are conducted using TRIAC VMC CNC machining center to relate the cutting parameters such as cutting conditions on the hole surface quality. The surface roughness of the drilled holes was measured using Rank Taylor Habson Surtronics 3+. The experimental result shows that the surface quality of the drilled surface is closely relates to the thickness of the specimen and the cutting speed force has no influence on the cutting speed and have significant effect on the specimen thickness.
